My heart's desire is the practice of  comprehensive holistic medicine (or whatever the term da jure might be this week) and provide effective Constitutionally based services for the well-being of my patients!

This can mean good things for you, in that, I am going to provide most of my in-house testing sevices bascially for FREE - FOR MY CONSTITUTIONALLY MINDED PATIENTS (and I do offer a lot of in-house testing that you would have to pay hundreds of dollars for elsewhere, if you could even find some of the tests and services I offer)

Let me be specific, you would receive the following:

Meridian Stress Assessment and Computerized Homotoxicology Report (whole body energetic finding)

Biological Terrain Flow Systems Analysis with Report of Findings (physiological finding)

Iris and Sclera photographs with Report of Findings (constitutional and present health status finding)

Symptom Survery Questionnaire with computerized Report of Findings (addressed your chief complaints and symptoms)

Endocrine Symptom Survery (specific for endocrine related symptoms)

Nutritional Blood Chemistry computerized report (if you have a recent report or I can order a very economical comprehensive blood chemistry for you)

Oriental Medicine Physical Exam (pulse, tongue, alarm points and physiogomy diagnosis).  This would include a Five Element diagnosis)

(in case you are wondering this is over $700 worth of tests)

So what does this mean??

This means if you come to me for palliative treatment alone - if for instance you have a back problem and you are only interested in  getting an injection or an acupuncture treatment or two and that is the extent of your interests, then my regular, non-discounted fees apply - none of the offer here applies to a palliative only patient.  Please understand I am not putting a value judgement on this - palliative medicine is very important and has been my bread and butter for years; but I am simply shifting the emphasis of my practice into a more comprehensive holistic direction; and I have decided to provide initiatives for interested persons who desire to more fully participate in constitutional holistic medicine.

SO, if you wish to participate in certainly a more complete wellness approach to improve your total over-all health....in addition to getting your back treated...then you will receive more complimentary services.

Lastly, I am going to attempt for a trial period of time a new approach to a fee schedule - and that is:

Pay what you feel inclined to pay or can afford to pay

An allegory:

There is this old Chinese acupuncturist in Boston who simply has patients put money on his desk on the way out.  He never pays attention to it.  Sometimes there can be $10,000 or more on his desk.  If someone is in need they take a little money.  I am not prepared to go that far....but I would like to be about the 'Spirit' of that model.

Why?  Because there is such anxiety in the marketplace today about the cost of taking care of ourselves.  It should not be that way.  It interferes greatly with the therapeutic process. In many cases the people who do have insurance, their care is being dictated by what procedures insurance or HMO companies will and will not pay.

So, in an attempt to have the focus of my practice here in West Palm Beach be about healing and not about money - I am going to let you - the patient decide what is best for you.  I will decide what is best for you from the standpoint of what I can offer you therapeutically and educationally, but you decide what you can truly afford.

There are some things I have fixed costs about such as outside lab tests and many of my professional supplement lines request that I not discount.  I, for one, don't add any market up to any of my lab tests! - as a courtesy to my patients.  Also, I always provide you with a financial overview concerning supplement cost and tailor what is needed to what is affordable.  Things can always be modified.  It may mean that the time of treatment will be extended, but that is ok; sometimes that is preferrable.  Most of us didn't get in the shape we are in overnight, and realistically we won't rebound to optimal health overnight either, and unfortunately some things can't be undone completely, only mitigated.  So, treatment involves a realistic time-line.

Everyone's financial means and personal health needs different so widely.  I don't think in this day and age, one size can fit all.  I could have sky high prices and only treat those who are affluent but wouldn't that be exclusionary medicine and it seems we already have that model in the marketplace and its doesn't seem to work too well for all Americans.

So, the impetous about the money part is on you.  Of course, if you are uncomfortable with this arrangement I will make suggestions for an appropriate fee range.

Here is my normal fee schedule:

$80/hr for acupuncture, adjunctive services and report of findings consultations
(This amount is generally $20 more per hour than beginning acupuncturists and $20 or more less than more established practitioners)

In-house tests - initial rates are $100 per test, with follow-ups being $50 to $75 depending on the test

My initial intensive exam intake for the 1st visit fee is $225, and follow-up visits are $80

Please don't mistake this generosity on my part as laxity of  practice discipline.  Constitutional medicine is only successful if protocol discipline is followed.

Also, you need to know that most of the product lines I use in my practice are exclusive and are not discountable per the manufactors request as I stated above, however with some energetic remedies (homeopathics and flowers, in particular) I can use a duplicator device and save you a considerable amount of money.   I only use the highest quality products from established professional lines.  You will not find these products in a health food store!  This is not a shotgun approach to natural medicine.  This is not a self-presecribing approach either.  Most health food self-prescribers are messing up and I can legitimately say this because I originally started in the health food business and know first-hand.  Even though things are much more science based than they were 20 years ago, being science based and seemingly logical does not replace accurate diagnosis.  Only accurage diagnosis yields appropriate treatment.  This is not to say that you can't find products to help you in a health food store.  It is just that I believe comprehensive is better than piecemeal.

Let me put it this way - there are creative ways to embrace wellness in your life and I will support your efforts to find effective affordable and appropriate care.  It is an open conversation and one that is, in this day and time, for better or for worse part of the healthcare discussion.

So if we can be courageous and game - Let's try this novel financial approach - if you will, the old Chinese barefoot doctor approach to medicine and see if it can find some traction in a modern holistic practice.
